Cape Neddick Lighthouse, also known as York Lighthouse and as the "Nubble Light," near York, Maine.

Cape Neddick Lighthouse, also known as York Lighthouse and as the "Nubble Light," is located near the old colonial town of York, Maine, on a small, barren island locally known as "Nubble" island. This island is just off Cape Neddick on the Atlantic Coast of Maine. The lighthouse was established in 1879. It is an active light, still depending on a fourth-order Fresnel lens, and flashing red every 6 seconds to warn mariners of the dangers of this rocky outcropping. It is an extraordinarily beautiful lighthouse with a lovely wood-frame keeper's quarters building. The lighthouse can be viewed from a park called Sophier Park at the end of Cape Neddick.
