Chaktai Khal called grief of Chittagong City. It is a most important part of Chittagong sea port and Karnafuli River, Karnaphuli is the largest and most important river in Chittagong and the Chittagong Hill Tracts is a 667-metre wide river in the south-eastern part of Bangladesh. The Khal was dredged to divert Chaktai khal water from Chaktai Khal to rajarkhal to protect the Chittagong City from water logging. The canal once used by the water transports has now been silted up with mud and sand flowing down from the upstream.
