Light-blue soldier crabs (Mictyris longicarpus), group. They gather in huge numbers (’armies’) on intertidal sand and mud flats and their blue coloured carapace resembles a military tunic, hence their name. Can burrow quickly into the sand using a sideways corkscrew-like motion. New South Wales, Australia
