At the expiration of his service as Township Col-lector he was elected a member of the Town Committee,which office he held for three jears, retiring on his own voli-tion. In his earlier days he consented to be a candidate forthe office of Chosen Freeholder for Essex Connty and waselected. This position he voluntarily relinquished at theend of one year, although his record was a creditable one,being a member of the Finance Committee.
