London, UK. 25/07/13. Sculptor, John DoubledayÕs statue of Sherlock Holmes outside Baker Street Station. Dr Ian Burney, a historian at the University Manchester will today claim that Edmond Locard and Hans Gross, the founders of modern forensic detective work known as Crime Scene Investigation or CSI, were influenced by doctor and novelist, Arthur Conan DoyleÕs fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes. Dr Burney will be speaking in Manchester to the International Congress of the History of Science, Technology and Medicine.
