1905 colour-tinted postcard view, from Central Pier to the Tower and Great Wheel, many people on the Central Sands, Blackpool

Colour tinted picture postcard published by Hill, Blackpool, and titled 'The Sands Blackpool'. The reverse bears a green Edward VII half penny stamp issued in 1905. Blackpool Tower opened in 1894 and the Great Wheel, planned as a rival, opened in 1896, but, unprofitable, was demolished in 1928. North Pier, in the background, the oldest of Blackpool's three piers, was opened in 1863. Stalls selling oysters are seen on the beach. A view from the Central Pier.
