Comrades Gone: These Stay On. Coast Guard officers and enlisted men stand at attention as a chaplain reads the battle services which will commit battle dead from the ship's company to graves in the South China Sea. The last rites for heroes in action preceding the invasion of Luzon are conducted on the deck of a Coast Guard-manned invasion transport. Confronted by the sad eventualities of war, these men stay on, their determination for victory steeled by the loss of comrades.
