Retired Brig. Gen. Alan C. Gayhart delivers remarks during the re-dedication of the 116th Cavalry Association’s memorial May 19, 2017, in honor of the 13 Soldiers the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team lost during the unit’s two deployments to Iraq. Gayhart was the unit’s commander for the first deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III in 2004-2005. The unit deployed to Iraq again in 2010-2011 in support of Operation New Dawn.
