In September, 1869, he arrived in Canada as Chief Engineerof the Toronto, Grey & Bruce and Toronto & Nipissing Eailways(his friend Sir Charles Eox, together with his son, now SirDouglas Fox, being the Consulting Engineer), and in suchcapacity constructed the line of the former railway from Torontoto Owen Sound, and from Orangeville to Teeswater, a total mile-age of 191 miles, and of the Toronto & Nipissing Eailway, 80miles
