Poppies growing close to the position of the British front line on 1st July 1916 at La Boisselle, the Somme, France. The exact line ran over the hill to the left of frame about 20m short of the road seen here. The German front line was appriximately 200m to the right (out of frame). British soldiers who went over the top on the morning of 1st July 1916 at this spot advanced no more then 50m.
