A German campaign sabre for officers, circa 1630 Double-edged blade of diamond section, each side with an etched Turk's head, Malchus with hand surmounting the Latin inscription "Vincere aut Mori". The base of the blade on both sides with the inscription (tr) "With this blade and God's will - I shall silence my foes". Hilt chiselled with a floral design at front, guard plate with star-shaped openwork and thumb ring at back.
