Storage tank at the Shell Haven oil refinery before it closed. The refinery closed at the end of 1999. The site is to be used for a new container port. With a quayside measuring long and a 700 acre commercial site the new London Gateway port would be the UK's largest container port, handling million 20ft containers. In the 1950s, the newly built refinery was used as a location for the filming of Quatermass II, a cult science fiction film.
