Emerging from the trees the tirst spring we meet with is situ- ated at the top of the hill some distance above the level of the river. This spring is b o r d e r e d b y ca nli- tlower-like forms of geyserite, which have a greenisli ti water flows spring in several small streams, the bed of each one bein g a bright orange color. An analysis of a specimen from the edge of this spring is as follows: Color, greenish-gray; fracture, couclioiaal ; , dull; hardness outside 3, inside 6. 1^^-.
