RhodaBatchelder Abbott, the second daughter and fourth child ofReuben and Betsey Batchelder, spent the greater part of herlife in Andover. She had many cares besides her own family;the aged lather of her husband, two invalid sisters, a brotherleft in his old age, with no family of his own, and another sis-ter who was unable to aid herself, all in turn were cared for byRhoda, always with loving devotion and self-sacrifice. Herhusband died when she was iu the prime of life, and the careand support of the family devolved upon her. She possessedremarkable business ability, which was shown in efficient man-agement of her own affairs. Above all, she was a loving,faithful servant of her chosen l^ord and Master. Her oldestdaughter, Caroline Brown, was married in 1875 to J. , and
