Lit splint test for hydrogen gas. Lit splint after being placed at the mouth of an upturned test tube to test whether the gas present is hydrogen. If the gas ignites with a squeaky pop sound, then it is hydrogen. The ignition of the hydrogen also extinguishes the splint.
