December 23, 2012, New York, NY, US. Supporters of stricter gun control laws rallied on the Brooklyn Bridge. The demonstration came nine days after the shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in which 20 children and six adults were shot and killed by a man armed with a semi-automatic assault-style rifle. The rally also took place hours after National Rifle Association Vice President Wayne LaPierre defended his call for stationing armed guards in every school in the United States.
