Ornithology: Breeding and Nests: A common crane (Grus grus), also known as the Eurasian crane nesting on an old Egyptian monument. Cranes are a family, the Gruidae, of large, long-legged, and long-necked birds in the group Gruiformes. They are perennially monogamous breeders, establishing long-term pair bonds that may last the lifetime of the birds.
