1930's - A rare old photograph & portrait of native American Yaqui (aka Hiaki, or Yoeme) deer and flower dancer from Arizona, in his deer horn head-dress performing in the then sometimes nude ritual known as the Pascolero ceremony . The dances outraged some of the Puritan minded ex- European residents. Originally Descendants of the Toltec, the Yaqui traded with tribes throughout northern Mexico and the south-central United States (where some settled,) Modern versions of the ceremony still take place, particularly in Mexico.
