Blue sky portrait, towards houses, tall slim mythological 'Sea Swallow Sculpture' rising promenade at Cleveleys, Fylde Coast, UK
Cleveleys Mythological Coastline Project includes four sculptures from the children's book, 'Sea Swallow', by Gareth Thompson and illustrated by Hannah Megee. The sculptures are part of the council's £20 million new promenade sea change project. The 9m long Sea Ogre's Paddle is carved in hardwood and is located towards the northern end of the promenade, in front of Jubilee Leisure Park. The other sculptures include Mary's Sea Shell and Sea Ogre, on the beach, and the tall slim 'Sea Swallow sculpture (seen here) that stands guard over the promenade at the end of Victoria Road West, Cleveleys' main shopping street. The sculpture includes the inscription: 'For at night they stand together on the sea wall, as if protecting the town with their great white wings'.
