Pal Grande (Austrian : Grosser Pal) is a mountain in the Carnic Alps. It was scene of violent clashes during the First World War between the Italian and Austrian armies. The graffiti on the rock says " Mamma Ritornerò 1916 145° Fanteria". The graffiti was made by an Italian infantryman of the Catania Brigade. "Mamma ritornerò - English: Mom I'll come back" The graffiti". The graffiti also includes a shield and a cross.
