Onlookers gathered to see a deceased humpback whale that washed up on the shore of Dockweiler State Beach, a popular beach located in the Los Angeles area. The whale was spotted by lifeguards the night before around 8:00pm. Scientists and biologists were onsite to take tissue samples in order to help determine the cause of death. The whale was estimated to be 10-20 years old, weigh 22 tons, and 45 feet in length. The whale was given the name "Wally" and was later successfully towed out to sea during high tide by two Los Angeles County Lifegua
