The Royal Danish Library is housed in a building called The Black Diamond spectacularly located on the waterfront in Copenhagen
Editorial use only. The Black Diamond is one of the most architecturally daring buildings in Denmark. It is located in the harbour in Copenhagen at Christians Brygge beside Soren Kirkegaards Plads on Slotsholmen where the Danish Parliament also resides in Christiansborg. The building is an extension to the old Royal Library (Det Kongelige Bibliotek). Seats and outdoor cafe is available between the building and the quay side. The building is one of the "must see" architectural delights of Copenhagen and most canal and harbour tour vessels pass by. A modern scrulpture is located at the south end of Soren Kierkegaards Plads as can be seen prominently here.
