Ormanici, Kurdish name Bane, south east Turkey, Kurdistan, March 1993. Kurdish civilians, including women and children and an older man, in the ruins of their village which was destroyed by a Turkish military army raid after the Turkish soldiers had accused the villagers of supporting the rebel Kurdistan Workers Party or PKK guerrillas. Thousands of Kurdish villages were destroyed by Turkish forces in the decade of the 1990's. The Kurdish people either killed or forced to move to cities in other parts of Turkey.
