The commutator and one of the brushes may be seenin the opening of the casing which surrounds the machine and supportsthe field coils. The Alternating Current Dynamo.—If in the single coil dynamo,described on page 81, the commutator is omitted and the ends of thewire of the armature are connected to two rings on which the brushesrest (Fig. 59), the E.
