Robot insect. View of the micro-robot \Attila II\", developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, as part of NASA's planetary exploration programme. Attila II (35cm long, 12cm height, in weight) has great dexterity of movement, able to evade small obstacles by using its own logic. With 150 detectors of 12 different types it can analyse the composition and texture of its terrain; a camera and laser allow it to obtain extra data on its environment. Attila II can be used to inspect an area, and take samples from inaccessible places. It was designed using nanotechnology and micromechanics research."
