Rev. Baxter has been at Sunnyburn eight years andduring that time has seen 140 members added to the mem-bership of his church. His salary has been increased sev-eral times and he has had the joy of organizing a newchurch at Holtwood. This church is a child of the Lower Path Valley the bounds of the mother congregation her childrenpressed westward over the Tuscarora Mountains, on roadsno more than trails, until they reached the fertile AughwickValley. Here to-day are found descendants bearing namesof many of these original settlers. We were not able to find the date of the first preachingby Presbyterian ministers in that new settlement. But it islikely that as early as the visit of the Rev. George Duffield(1766) these scattered settlers occasionally heard the Wordof God. Dr. West is authority for the statement that Denny frequently preached across the Tuscaroramountains in Augwick Valley, both in the vicinity of BurntCabins and
