1896. Corporal-Trumpeter Samuel James Goodhall of the 2nd Battalion Life Guards. He joined the regiment as a Boy Musician in 1882 aged 13, his father having served as a non-commissioned officer in the Life Guards for 25 years. Samuel was awarded a Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in 1902 and died of Tuberculosis in 1912, having served with the regiment for nearly 30 years.
