This dread-ful disorganization had attained a magnitudenearly equal to that of half the head. The eye-lids were enormously extended and swollen, withvaricose veins running over the surface, manytimes larger than their natural size. The tumorwas of a reddish color, elastic, and very painfulto the touch. Betwixt the margins of the lidsgrew a fungus, having an unequal surface, which,during the progress of the disease, assumed va-rious colors from red to black, secreting a badsmelling ichor intermingled with blood.
