The last bastion of the once feared Al Shabaab group, Kismayo fell after troops of the Somali National Army (SNA) and Ras Kimboni Brigade supported by Kenyan AMISOM forces entered the port city on 02 October following a two month operation across southern Somalia which saw the liberation of villages and centres along a distance of 120km from Afmadow to Kismayo.
