Bloody Angle. Doyers St Doyers St. The street was named after a local newspaper as the bloody corner (Bloody Angle) because being a street with L-shaped ambushes occurred between many different rival gangs of gangsters who control opium and fought game in the 1920s. If we go by Bowery Street, just before we left Chatham Square, where there is a memorial to Americans of Chinese descent who lost their lives defending freedom and democracy. In the same square there is a statue in honor of Lin Zexu, who fought tirelessly against the opium trade in Canton.
