Light micrograph of Wharton’s jelly, which is the substance in an umbilical cord that is present in between the umbilical vessels (the vessels are not seen in this picture, only the jelly substance). A few nuclei of cells (the small dark blue structures) are interspersed in the substance. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 100x when printed at 10cm.
