The Tartar made his appearance accompanied by several gentlemen on horseback; one of whom appeared to act as his arms consisted of a pair of pistols, which, in the course of his performances, he repeatedly discharged, and a pole about ten or a dozen feet long, which he used as a lance, throwing it with considerable force when galloping, and with correct also threw himself off his horse - whilst at the top of his speed, and vaulted again into the saddle with great ease'.
