The Bleecker Street to Broadway-Laffayette stations' transfer has its grand opening in the New York subway

The Bleecker Street to Broadway-Laffayette stations' transfer has its grand opening in the New York subway on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Because of the quirky nature of the subway system, which were originally three competing companies, various transfers between neighboring stations were never built. The transfer from the IND at Broadway-Lafayette to the uptown IRT Bleecker Street is one of them. The bane of many commuters existence, the $127 million transfer is now available, complete with five new elevators and an LED artwork entitled "Hive" on the ceiling.(© Richard B. Levine)
