Man sleeping in hospital bed

The airshower is a unique device currently on trial in nineteen centres across six European countries, including England. The airshower decreases exposure to allergens causing a reduction in the inflammation of the lungs, the trigger of asthma related problems within patients whilst gently expelling clean, filtered air over sleeping patients around their head, at one degree below ambient room temperature. The sum effect of this is circulation and filtering of all the air within the patient’s bedroom. The slight cooling of air as it passes through the airshower is a very important part of the filtering process. Under normal circumstances, warm moist air is drawn towards and begins to ‘collect’ around the patient’s torso and head area attracting dust-mites and other allergens, the cooling helps to halt this process. The airshower is under trial as a ‘treatment’ for asthma, to record whether it can reduce the reliance on steroid based medication but still enable the patient an equal if not greater quality of life.
