Genital chlamydia infection. Swelling in the lymph glands of the groin of a man from Africa with the sexually transmitted disease lymphogranuloma venereum. This is an infection by the Chlamydia trachomatis bacterium. The swelling is especially clear at centre left, where the inguinal (groin) lymph gland and femoral (leg) lymph gland are both swollen around the inguinal ligament. This creates a groove between the two swollen glands. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs. Lymphogranuloma venereum is more common in the tropics than elsewhere.
