The skin and flesh are of a pure, creamy-white color, flesh very fine-grained and of excellent quality and flavor, resembling the cocoanut when made into pies or custards, and is superior to any other Squash or Pumpkin for this purpose. They can be used at any time dur- ing growth, even when very young, and after maturing make an excellent Autumn and Winter sort. This new variety, originally from South America, has been thoroughly tested in the United States the past two years, and is pronounced by critical growers a most valuable acquisition to our list of Summer and Autumn Squashes. The flesh and skin are of a bright yellow color, slightly warted, as shown in our illustration. As its name indicates, it is the sweetest of all Squashes ; the flesh being unusually fine- grained and tender, so much so that it is palatable even when eaten raw. They reach a weight of three to four lbs. each, ripen early, and grow so vigorously that they are but little affected by the squash-bug.
