Rubber Salvage on the British Home Front, 1942 A view of a large pile of worn army boots at a salvage depot, somewhere in Britain. Those which are repairable are sent to shoe repairers, who, once repaired, distribute them to retailers for civilian wear. The remainder are sent away to be made into fertilisers and the like.
