Kashmiri Shiite mourners shout slogans as police tried to stop their Muharram procession in Srinagar, in the Indian Administered Kashmir on 19 September 2018. Police fired tear gas to foil the Moharram procession, which has been banned in certain parts of Srinagar since 1990 with the lndian government citing security considerations. Many Shiites Muslims were also detained as they tried to march through the city centre of Srinagar. Moharram is the first Islamic month and is a month of mourning for Shiites in remembrance of the martyrdom of lmam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Mohammed
