Mr. Gibbs had beenin charge of the properties under the former management for severalyears, and under the reorganization his powers and duties werelargely increased and he had a prominent part in the reorganizationof the operating conditions and in the reconstruction of the proper-ties in connection with H. Byllesby& Company, had charge on the spot of the reconstruction of theproperty. The street railway system, comprising some 14^ miles of of 5-ft. 2-in. guage laid with rails ranging from 36 to 70 poundsper yard. Along with the reconstruction of the power house, thestreet railway system was reconstructed to bring it to standardgauge. This also called for a new rolling stock. The track as re-constructed now consists of 70-pound standard A. S. C. E. T rail indirt streets and 70-pound Shanghai T in paved street. Eight of the1454 miles of track is in paved street. Ties are 6 in. x 8 ft., laid twofeet between centers. Atlas rail joints were used. The trolley isNo. 0000 wire. The bonds and overhead material were furnished bythe Ohio Brass Company. These cars are equipped with four 25-hpG. E. motors. Eighteen cars are operated during rush hours andten upon ordinary schedule.
