A set of swabs are collected to be analyzed and input into the National Marrow Donor Registry during a blood drive at Freedom Crossing, Fort Bliss, July 6. Seventy percent of patients with blood diseases rely on strangers registering in the National Marrow Donor Registry in hopes of matching Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) profiles of donors as closely as possible to perform bone marrow or stem cell transplants.
