Palermo, Italy. 12th Sept, 2014. Hundreds of migrants arrived in Palermo, Italy, aboard a coast guard vessel after a rescue mission from the Straight of Sicily. The rescued migrants (248 men, 64 women and 130 minors) came from countries including Libya, Egypt and Lebanon). The rescue in the Strait of Sicily continues as part of the major mission called "Mare Nostrum" (Our Sea) that Italy launched in October 2013 after two major shipwrecks near the island of Lampedusa that killed 360 migrants.
