The lamp shades, an important note ofcolor by night, are of a brownish rose silk. As a whole the color scheme is mellow. None ofthe elements is assertive and the balance is wellkept. The mahogany, of which the furniture ismade, is, as is well known, an excellent harmonizerfor juxtaposed tints, its rich, deep tone assisting asan adjustment in color values in any well-plannedscheme. Of the general grouping of pieces it maybe said that we find here a satisfactory medium. THE WALLS ARE COVERED WITH OLD-GOLD GRASSCLOTH, WOODWORK IN IVORY ENAMEL limitation. On the whole, as is manifestly best for position between the historical interest in period wooden furniture, the wood is allowed to expressstyles and complete informality. The objects show itself by way of decoration. Surfaces are givensome kinship in form, but without any deliberate broadly and bulk is not compromised with.
