Metal or carbon plate, ball or cone (Figs. 13, 14, and 17)are surrounded by a thick la^-er of the cotton, which clings when moistenedand needs no fastening to hold it in place ; a rubber band will serve tohold the punk. For the larger plate electrodes (Fig. 14) this can also beused, and if it is to be permanent it may be held in place by a fine, thinchamois ; one or two layers of well-selected punk, in place of the cotton,underneath the chamois, are most satisfactory and make an admirable FARADIC CURRENT, MAGNETISM, MASSAGE, ETC.
