CULTURE.—This is an important market gardener's crop, of easy culture. For spring and summer use sow either broad- cast or in drills 1 foot apart and 1 inch deep, as early as the ground can be worked, and every two weeks for a succession. For winter and early spring use, sow in September in well- manured ground ; cover with straw on the approach of severe cold weather. The ground cannot be too rich ; the stronger the ground, the more delicate and succulent will be the leaves. Sow the New Zealand varieties in hills, 3 feet apart each way, three or four seeds to a hill, or can start in heat and transplant; it cut for'use all summer. reer's Round Seeded Savoy. Curled and crimped, with thick, fleshy leaves; the best for family use, and best of all for fail sowing Pkt, 5 cts.; oz., 10 cts.; \ lb., 15 cts.; 40 cts.; 10 lbs. or more, by express, 30 cts. lb.
