The Wounded Come Out of Southern France. An American infantryman, falling wounded from fire from Nazis retreating from the shores of Southern France, is carried to a Coast Guard-manned landing craft at Bougan Bay for transfer to a Coast Guard-manned assault transport standing out in the Mediterranean. A beach battalion handles the litter. Allied casualties were light in the D-Day sweep against the Riviera area.
