Aimable Jean Jacques Pelissier, French soldier, 1857. Pelissier (1794-1864) served in Spain, Algeria and the Crimea. During the Crimean War (1853-1856) he commanded the First Corps of French army which co-operated with the British at Sebastapol. His troops carried fort of Malakoff by storm in 1856. Pelissier was made a Marshal of France in 1855 and Duke of Malakoff in 1856. He was appointed Ambassador to Great Britain in 1850 and Governor-General of Algeria in 1860.
