Parliament voted 13th July, 2023, to decide if the leader of The Move Forward party, Pita Limjaroenrat, who won the most seats in May's election, can become the new Prime Minister, ending 9 years of rule by former army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha. Pita Limjaroenrat lost the vote to become prime minister, 51 votes short of the 376 votes needed. The vote saw many abstentions by some members of the Senate.
