A Beautiful New- Seedling Pear from Grand Isle, Vt., up near the Canadian Line. Probably the Hardiest Pear grown. Fruit medium size, not quite so large as Bartlett, but much larger than Seckel; skin j^ellow, nearly covered with bright carmine. A very handsome pear ; will bring the highest prices on the market; a dish of Vermont Beauty is indeed a showy sight. Flesh melting and splendid quality ; Nearly equal to Seckel. We had the pleasure of testing this for ourselves this fall and can the quality is very good. It is certain!}^ a beautiful and ver}^ valuable pear. The trees are very productive. Ripens in Oc- tober, and being much larger than Seckel and nearly its equal in quality, and more attractive, it will certainly rate very high. Never has blighted, nor winter killed. It will out-sell Seckel on the same market. Heavy first-class, 5 to 7 ft., very fine. 60 cts.; $ Light first-class. 4 to 6 ft., 50c.: doz., $5 00. badly in the far wt son why it should du uere. Pear scab and leaf blight can be kept in control by spray- ing with Bordeaux mixture, with no more trouble or ex- pense than spraying potatoes. The quality is certainly as good as Bartlett. Perhaps not as good as Sheldon, (but Shel- don we think is one of the best on the list). Very large : tree very hardy: melting: juicy: little or no core: and ripens later than Bartlett. Very vig- orous and productive. A. J. C. of Connecticut savs in Bural , Oct. 21,^1893: "The iruit is about the size of Shel- don, which it resembles in shape. Hangs well on the tree and keeps well. It does not â compare with Sheldon inflavoi- or appearance, suffering there Irom scab and curculio.'' Tastes differ. Try it for your section, it may be just what you want. Extra size, 5 to 7 ft., each. 60 cts.; doz., $
