He was married on November 25, 1863, to Fanny, daughter ofGeorge Peabody of Salem, and they had two children: WilliamPowell Mason and Fanny Peabody Mason, the former of whomdied October 22, 1881. Mrs. Mason died May 10, 1898. He was not afraid of steady work: and his rise in his professionand his prosperity as a business administrator bear witness to hisupright character and his rectitude of mind and morals.
