Caries and Necrosis.—The only effect of these diseases of thepelvic bones is the production, in rare cases of tuberculosis of asacro-iliac joint, of an oblique contraction of the pelvis. Whenthe sacro-iliac joint is affected, the ultimate result is the same asthat produced by imperfect development of the sacral alae in atrue Naegele pelvis. There is loss of tissue, ankylosis of thejoint, and an arrest of development in the affected part if thedisease occurs in early childhood.
